The Greenpark Terminus pedestrianunderpass at Haile Selassie Avenue–Uhuru Highway stands as a structural engineering marvel, showcasing how advanced design enhances urban mobility. The project transforms a once-congested junction into a safe, efficient, and pedestrian-friendly network serving over 21,000 users daily. It features 24-hour retail stalls, lighting, CCTV surveillance, seating, elevators, and escalators—ensuring accessibility and convenience for all, including persons with disabilities, the elderly, and expectant mothers.
Precision Engineering and Cost Efficiency
Constructed by China Road and Bridge Corporation, the 500-metre network comprises four reinforced-concrete tunnels—Greenpark, Railways, Haile Selassie, and Uhuru—ranging from 29 to 106 meters. Each tunnel is engineered to resist lateral earth pressures and manage stormwater through an integrated drainage system. Flood-resilient retaining structures, waterproofing, and coordinated utility corridors ensure durability and minimize maintenance costs.
